Muscle Therapies

TRigger Point Therapy

The objective of trigger point therapy is releasing or softening a muscle knot to reduce (or eliminate) the knot pain and associated pain. This release happens by applying various levels of pressure to muscle knots, and then stretching the affected areas through a complete range of motion. Dr. Leslie Macklin utilizes this technique along with your adjustment to better aid in your spinal correction and reduce healing time.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation

Electrical Muscle Stimulation Northlake Chiropractic

Neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) stimulates the nerves in muscles to restore function and strength, prevent muscle atrophy, and reduce muscle spasms. Electric muscle stimulation can relax back muscles, easing tightness and soreness in the lower back area. Sciatica symptoms, for example, can be caused by back muscles in spasm.

The Benefits of Electrical Stimulation

  • Stimulating muscular blood flow.
  • Increasing strength.
  • Reducing muscle pain.
  • Improving psychological recovery.

Intersegmental Traction Table

The intersegmental traction table mobilizes the spinal column while simultaneously stretching the ligaments and muscles. This helps to increase blood flow and oxygen to discs, ligaments and muscles, thereby improving balance, strength and mobility.

The “roller tables” help this relaxation process. These Spinal Stabilizer Tables roll up and down the spine massaging the disc spaces. These disc spaces are the cushioning between the spine and help them stay hydrated. The more stimulation these discs receive the healthier and taller you will feel and look.
